De Arbeiderspers is one of the leading Dutch literary publishers of Dutch, Flemish and translated fiction and non-fiction.
The series of memoirs and diaries published under the “Privé-domein” name has also become one of the most prestigious literary lists in the Nehterlands. The non-fiction list currently features a range of serious history, biography and philosophy titles as well as non-fiction on topical issues. Our big name authors include Elias Canetti, Ryszard Kapuscinski, Michael Moore and Lisa Jardine. Our most successful local fiction writers include Anna Enquist, Arthur Japin, Maarten ‘t Hart, Tessa de Loo, Rosita Steenbeek, Joost Zwagerman, Abdelkader Benali, and Pauline Slot and we also have one of the best poetry list of the country. We also have a history of publishing high profile international authors; recent successes in translation have been amongst others Irvine Welsh, Paulo Coelho, Louis de Bernières, Michel Houellebecq, Paul Auster, John Updike, Cormac McCarthy, Orhan Pamuk, Mike Dash and James Meek. We continue to publish and reissue literary classics by Thomas Mann, Friedrich Nietzsche, Fernando Pessoa, Georges Perec, and Konstantin Paustovsky.
