Workshops for children
During the BIBF 2011, various Dutch writers of children’s books and illustrators will give workshops to children. The picture-book creators transport the children off to the world of their books - they narrate stories, they draw the leading character in those stories, and they slowly create a book before the eyes of the children. Sometimes they devise new stories with the children. For the children, this is a fascinating acquaintance with an author and his work, and a stimulus to read books with pleasure. Primary schools from Beijing have been invited to participate in the workshop.
The workshops will be given by:
- Annemarie van Haeringen, author and illustrator of Een kleine ezel (A Small Donkey), published by Hunan: on Friday 2 September in the Dutch Pavilion (E02.A02) at the Book Fair, and on Sunday 4 September in The Bookworm, along with illustrator Sieb Posthuma.
- Ingrid and Dieter Schubert, writers of Ophelia and Een gat in mijn emmer (A Hole in my Bucket), published by Tomorrow Publishing House: on Wednesday 31 August in The Bookworm in the Yin Yang Center, and on Friday 2 September in the Dutch Pavilion (E02.A02) at the Book Fair.
- Princess Laurentien of Orange and Sieb Posthuma, respectively the author and illustrator of Mr Finney en de wereld op zijn kop (Mr Finney and the Upside-down World), published by 21st Century Press, will give a joint workshop on Thursday 1 September in the Dutch Pavilion (E02.A02) at the Book Fair.
- Hans Hagen, author of Jij bent de liefste (You’re the Dearest), published by Beijing Yuanliu Classic Culture: on Thursday 1 September in the Dutch Pavilion (E02.A02) at the Book Fair.
